POSITION SUMMARY

A vacancy has arisen for the post of a Finance Manager within BigMat, reporting to the Financial Controller. The selected candidate will be responsible to manage accounting records, ensure compliance with regulations, prepare management accounts, oversee accounting operations, analyse financial data, take a leading role in the auditing processes, and ensure accuracy of financial information.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Prepare monthly management accounts and other internal financial reports such as
performance analysis in line with pre-set deadlines
2. Use management accounting techniques to generate data and information relevant for decision making
3. Correctly apply the latest accounting procedures in line with applicable financial reporting standards (such as IFRS) and relevant legislation
4. Oversee accounting operations and ensures correctness of accounting records and of control accounts including cash control and inventory-related records
5. Supervise and assist the finance team with day-to-day activity including bookkeeping clerks
6. Assist in treasury requirements the company including preparing supplier payments
7. Assist in the preparation of budget financial statements
8. Liaising with external auditors before and during yearly statutory audit
9. Preparation, review, and timely submission of quarterly VAT returns

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is carried out in office environment liaising with retail outlet and warehouse environment.

Full time job with occasional extra hours.

 

EDUCATION & LICENSES REQUIRED

The ideal candidate shall have a minimum two to three years of work experience as an Accountant or similar role.

Preferably the candidates should be mid-way through their ACCA qualification.

Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.

Advanced MS Excel skills.

Experience within the retail industry would be considered as an asset, although not a must.
