POSITION SUMMARY

The main tasks of a shelf stacker are to ensure that shelves and displays are well stocked at all times and are visually appealing.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1 Take count of stock, check and mark merchandise

2 Check that the labelling of shelves and pricing is correct

3 Assist in putting up product displays

4 Fill shelves with the correct products

5 Remove expired or damaged items from shelves

6 Receive and store merchandise when delivered

7 Keep up to date with special offers and promotions

8 Ensure that shelves are clean and organised

9 Assist in the general cleaning of the premises

10 Give directions to customers to locate products

11 Take feedback from customers and suggest new products to management

12 Report discrepancies or any other issues to the Supervisor

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Shelf stackers typically work full-time Monday to Saturday. Working on Sundays and public holidays may also be required. Longer hours and busier shifts may be expected during the festive season and stock-take periods. Working as a Shelf Stacker requires standing up for long periods of time. The lifting and moving of heavy goods is also required.

 

EDUCATION & LICENSES REQUIRED

The required skills are learnt on-the-job and through experience.
